DE House Unanimously Rejects Judicial & Cabinet Pay Raises

Jan 18, 2013 -- 3:37am

The Delaware House voted unanimously Thursday 41-0 to reject a recommendation by the Delaware Compensation Commission to raise the salaries of Delaware judges and several of Gov. Jack Markell’s cabinet secretaries.

The DCC had recommended a six-percent raise for judges and two to nine-percent raises for the cabinet secretaries.

Lawmakers that WGMD spoke to, say Delaware’s financial situation is too uncertain right now authorize the pay increases.

The resolution now heads to the Senate. Gov. Markell meantime will unveil his new budget on January 24.
