Public Hearing on DNREC's Remediation Plans for Vlasic Begins at 6pm

Dec 17, 2013 -- 5:48pm

A public hearing is just getting underway at 6pm at the Millsboro Town Hall that will discuss DNREC’s proposed remediation of the former Vlasic Pickle site on Iron Branch Road.  Residents who live in the area of the plant are opposed to the shift from pickle production to poultry processing by Allen M Harim Foods, which has entered into a brownfields development agreement with DNREC.  Attorney Erin Brockovich and her team of environmental experts are actively engaged in an investigation at the site.   The citizen group “Protecting Our Indian River” is also strongly opposed to the development agreement.
