UPDATED: Wallops to Launch Minotaur Rocket This Evening

Nov 19, 2013 -- 6:16pm

UPDATE:  After a 45 minute delay and the Coast Guard removing a sailboat from the launch zone - the launch went off without a hitch.  This is a CubeSat launch - and the rocket is carrying 29 satellites - http://www.nasa.gov/content/nasa-helps-launch-student-built-satellites-and-latest-phonesat-as-part-of-cubesat-launch/index.html#.UowSO-KmYwc

UPDATE:  Countdown is back on after a problem developed with a tracking site in North Carolina.  Issue with the tracking site has been found. After successful testing we will pick up the count at T-60 minutes - new launch time 8:15pm

A Minotaur 1 rocket is scheduled to lift off from the Wallops Flight Facility this evening around 7:30.  The rocket will launch the Air Force’s ORS-3 mission – which features the deployment of 29 satellites in space.  The launch window is from 7:30 to 9:30 – and backup launch days run through November 26.  The launch should be visible – depending on atmospheric conditions where you are – from northern Florida to southern Canada and west to Indiana.
