An undercover investigation has resulted in the bust of an illegal gambling operation.
The Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement started an investigation after receiving a complaint about illegal gambling at Cheney’s I on the Pike on Newport Gap Pike outside Wilmington. Agents say they found four electronic gambling machines inside the establishment that were ready to be used. They were then able to put money into the machines, win credits, and then exchange those credits for cash.
On Friday, agents raided Cheney’s, seized the machines and $2,181 in cash. The owner, 56-year-old Gary Nattress of Prospect Park, Pennsylvania, was arrested. He was charged with second-degree advanced gambling, possession of a gambling device, and providing premises for gambling. He’s free on $500 bond.
