A 27-year-old Townsend man is dead following a single car crash in Clayton Thursday night.

Delaware State Police say the crash occurred just after 7 p.m. as Robert Pizarro was southbound on Daisey Road in his Saturn Aura.

Police say for unknown reasons, the Saturn traveled off the west side of the roadway and struck a ditch. The car continued in a southwesterly direction and into a wooded area where it struck numerous trees before coming to a stop. 

Pizarro, who was not properly restrained, was pronounced dead at the scene.
