UPDATE: Worcester County Commissioner Louise Gulyas Will NOT Need Surgery for Broken Neck

Aug 01, 2013 -- 7:20am

There’s good news for a Maryland county commissioner who fell and broke her neck last week.Luckily, Worcester County Commissioner Louise Gulyas probably will not need surgery.

The Ocean City resident fell Friday and broke a vertebra in her neck. She lay on the floor of her condofor 18hours before her son Thom found her; he rushed her to the hospital. The doctors say the accident didn’t cause any paralysis. But most likely, Gulyas will wear a neck brace until the break heals.

Gulyas was elected in 1998. She turned 79 Monday and celebrated with her family in the hospital.
