On Friday, Delaware Senator Gary Simpson met with Canadian Consul General John Prato at Legislative Hall. They discussed creating more opportunities for what is already a mutually beneficial trade partnership between Delaware and Canada. Canada buys a billion dollars’ worth of goods from the First State annually which makes Canada the state’s top export market. According to Canadian statistics – about 23,000 Delaware jobs depend on trade with Canada and1700 Delawareans are employed by Canadian-owned businesses. The First State’s top export to Canada is medicine and they buy about 56% of Delaware‘s Agricultural exports – and our top import from Canada – crude petroleum.
