One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Newark.
Delaware State Police say the crash happened at the intersection of Old Baltimore Pike and Salem Woods Drive around 5:15 Saturday evening. Troopers say the crash happened when 37-year-old Charles Thompson of Newark was driving a 1990 Lexus LS400 west on Old Baltimore Pike. He tried to turn left onto Salem Woods Drive, but turned into the path of an eastbound Ford F350 pickup truck driven by 46-year-old Michael Summers of Elkton, Maryland. Both vehicles spun out after the collision, with the Lexus hitting a wooden fence. Troopers and bystanders tried to revive Thompson with CPR, but he was pronounced dead at Christiana Hospital. 24-year-old Braden Boyer of Dover, a passenger in the front seat, is listed in critical but stable condition at Christiana. Troopers say it appears neither of them were wearing seat belts. Summers was wearing a seat belt in his truck, and wasn't injured.
The crash closed Old Baltimore Pike for about two hours. State Police continue to investigate.
