The Delaware Senate voted unanimously Wednesday to approve legislation aimed at controlling workers’ compensation premiums.
Representative Byron Short sponsored the legislation which is now headed to Gov. Jack Markell for his signature.
House Bill 175 requires that the state Department of Insurance hire a lawyer to challenge requests by insurance companies to raise rates; it also freezes, for two years, the amount hospitals charge to treat on-the-job injuries and places new limits on lab tests and prescription drugs costs.
