A Jockey with Delaware Ties will Run for the Roses Saturday

May 03, 2013 -- 5:59pm

Rosie Napravnik will be riding on “Mylute” in the Kentucky Derby Saturday evening.  While she’s a 15 to 1 shot to win, the last race Mylute won was in December with the 25 year old Napravnik on board.  Napravnik is from New Jersey – the daughter of a farrier – a horseshoer and a show horse trainer, but has spent a lot of time racing in Delaware where she raced at Delaware Park and in Maryland where she raced at Pimlico and Laurel Park. She’s had her troubles over the years – taking a spill at Delaware and breaking her left leg in 2008 – that kept her off the track for a few months.  She rode “Pants on Fire” in the Kentucky Derby in 2011 – finishing 9th – which has been the best finish for a woman in Derby history.  This year Rosie’s running for the roses.
