Governor Markell will this afternoon attend the Delaware Fraternal Order of Police Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Service.
Gov. Markell will join with Fraternal Order of Police President Fred Calhoun and Delaware Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors President Eleanor Allione to remember those officers killed in the line of duty. He will also present a proclamation declaring May 15 as Police Officers Memorial Day and May 12-18 as Police Officers Memorial Week. Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.
Today’s service starts at noon on Legislative Mall in Dover.
