Thousands of people are expected to pour into historic downtown Georgetown this afternoon to call on Congress to pass commonsense immigration reform that supports families and strengthens communities.
Held in coordination with dozens of actions across the United States designed to keep families together, the event will be one of the largest in the country.
Rally participants will include impacted immigrant families, their neighbors, faith leaders, employers, and community representatives from La Esperanza, the Delaware Alliance for Community Advancement and CASA in Action. Delaware’s immigrant population has practically tripled in the twenty years between the 1990 and 2010 Census rising to almost nine percent today.
Today's event runs from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Georgetown Presbyterian Church Park on North Bedford Street.
