Miss America 1958 Marilyn Van Derbur who is a survivor of child sexual abuse, is scheduled to speak at Crime Victims’ Rights Week observances in Dover and Lewes today AND tomorrow.
The Delaware Victims Rights Task Force will hold its 22nd Annual Tribute to Crime Victims and Survivors tonight starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Dover Sheraton; Van Derber will be the keynote speaker.
On Thursday, she will speak at Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes. Van Derbur is expected to tell the story of how she was sexually assaulted by her prominent, millionaire father from age 5 to 18; she was 53-years-old before she was able to speak about the incidents in public.
