Two Separate Motorcycle Crashes Leave 2 Men Injured

Apr 11, 2013 -- 9:01am

Delaware State Police today are investigating a pair of separate motorcycle crashes that occurred Wednesday night.

Police say the first crash occurred around 9 p.m. as 66-year-old James  Dijiacomo was northbound on Route 1 just south of Cave Neck Road in Milton in his Chevy Impala; 24-year-old John Vincent was driving his Honda motorcycle behind the Impala and struck the rear of the car; Vincent was thrown off the bike; he was taken to Beebe Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Dijiacomo was NOT hurt in the crash. Police have charged Vincent with DUI of alcohol and drugs, driving with a suspended license, not having insurance or registration and not having a helmet on his bike.

The second crash occurred just after 10 p.m. as 24-year-old Jeffrey McWaine was eastbound on Webbs Lane in Dover on his Honda CBR600. Police say a car traveling westbound turned into McDaniel Drive in front of him; and in an attempt to avoid striking the car, McWaine applied his brakes and was thrown from the motorcycle. McWaine, who was wearing a helmet, was removed from the scene by EMS and transported to Kent General Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries; he was cited for driving with a suspended license, not having proof of insurance and having a fictitious or canceled registration.
