Crews Respond to Fuel Spill at Berlin Home

Apr 02, 2013 -- 6:58am

The Worcester County Special Hazards Response Team assisted the Maryland Department of the Environment Monday with a residential fuel oil spill at a home on Flower Street in Berlin.

Approximately 80 gallons of heating fuel oil leaked out of it's container and into the backyard and subsequently a nearby waterway. Crews assisted MDE with placing absorbent booms in the waterway to catch any runoff.

MDE will be monitoring the soil and water today for contamination and coordinating cleanup efforts.
