A bill that would create more oversight by the General Assembly of Delaware’s participation in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative has been introduced in the state Senate.
Senate Bill 34, sponsored by Senate Minority Leader Gary Simpson, would require that any changes to the carbon credit auction program would have to be approved by a Joint Resolution from the General Assembly. The bill would require the Secretary of DNREC to publish the elements of the auction program at least 60 before Delaware takes part in the first auction.
The bill has been placed in the Senate Energy & Transit Committee. The bill currently only has Republican cosponsors.
