A 5K run/walk is being held in Wilmington this afternoon to benefit the Wilmington police officer who was shot earlier this month during a traffic stop.

The race for Officer Justin Wilkers starts at 1 p.m. at Kelly’s Logan House on Delaware Avenue.

Runners and walkers can pre-register for $25. If you register today, the cost increases to $30 and registration begins at 11:45 a.m.

Officer Wilkers meantime continues to recover, after being shot in the face; doctors wired his jaw shut after the shooting; they hope to remove the bullet next month.
