Statement from Property Owner Where Tues Shooting Occurred in Lewes

Feb 20, 2013 -- 9:33am

The man who owns the property on Cedar Grove Road where Tuesday afternoon’s shooting occurred in Lewes is speaking out.

Charlie Pollard tells WGMD that as a result of a dangerous situation yesterday, he’s very happy that none of the participants in the Southern Delaware Therapeutic Recreational Riding Association were physically harmed; he says any time innocent people are exposed to violent behavior should be of great concern to all of us.

42-year-old Keith Schueller of Rehoboth was shot by a Delaware State Police trooper around 1 p.m. after police tried to pull him over for active warrants on thefts and burglaries. Schueller ran from police and was able to grab a shovel and threaten an officer who then fired once, striking Schueller in the upper body.  He’s in critical condition today at Christiana Hospital.
