Delmarva Power will host a community meeting at 6:30 p.m. tonight at the Goodwill Fire Company in Centreville, to provide information about the utility’s proposal to build a new high-voltage transmission line between Millington (Church substation) and Wye Mills (Wye Mills substation).
The meeting will offer the public the opportunity to ask questions about the $31.3 million project which is designed to enhance electric service reliability on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, especially for customers in Queen Anne’s, Talbot and Caroline counties.
The existing 69,000-volt, single, overhead transmission line, which is currently on single wooden poles, will be replaced by a 138,000- and 69,000-volt, double-circuit, overhead transmission line on more durable, single steel poles.
Construction is scheduled to begin in January 2014 and should be completed by June 2015.
