Delaware State Police are this morning investigating a fatal hit and run pedestrian crash that occurred Tuesday night in Dover.

Police say an unknown vehicle was southbound on  Route 13 just south of South Governors Avenue just after 8 p.m. when 38-year-old Curt Burns of Dover attempted to cross the southbound lanes of Route 13 from west to east and was hit by the car and thrown onto the southbound shoulder; police say the car fled the scene without stopping.

Burns was taken to Kent General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
