Guns, Ammo Found In Car Owned By New Castle County Courthouse Shooter

Feb 16, 2013 -- 4:22pm

Several guns and ammunition were found in the car of the man who opened fire inside the New Castle County Courthouse last Monday.

Police in Elkton, Maryland carried out a search warrant on the car registered to 68-year-old Thomas Matusiewicz, the father of David Matusiewicz. Police say he, his wife and his son spent Sunday night at home in Elkton before the shooting Monday in Wilmington, in which Thomas killed his former daughter-in-law and another woman before turning the gun on himself. Two Capitol Police officers were wounded in the shooting. The car has since been towed to an impound lot in New Castle.

The courthouse reopened for business on Thursday.
