The Delaware National Guard will host its 30th Annual Prayer Breakfast this morning.
The breakfast starts at 7 a.m. at the Cavalier Country Club in Newark.
Thirty years ago, a young Army National Guard Chaplain named Father Dan Gerres began the prayer service, scheduled on the Tuesday prior to Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the Christian season of Lent. Since that time, the Annual Prayer Service has broadened to include people of all faiths. This year invitations were sent to the Buddhist, Sikh, Hindu, Jewish and Islamic communities. The Delaware National Guard is comprised of people who identify themselves as members of such faith communities.
