Del State University officials have learned that jazz legend Dr. Donald Byrd has died.  Byrd, who has twice been an artist-in-residence at Del State University, died on February 4^th.  Byrd was most recently an artist-in-residence from 2008 to 2011, but he helped students to stay enrolled in college through his establishment of a scholarship endowment and support of other fundraising efforts on the Dover campus.
