Damage from an apartment fire in Salisbury was held to a minimum – thanks to a sprinkler system. Firefighters from Salisbury and Fruitland were called to a Winterborn Lane home just before 8:30 Saturday morning when fire broke out in a 5-unit apartment building. The cause – a 4-year old playing with matches set his bedding on fire, but the apartment was equipped with not only smoke detectors but sprinklers – and that kept the fire contained and damage to a minimum. Everyone was able to escape the building safely. Damage is estimated at $4000.
