Delaware OHS Wants Football Fans To Celebrate Super Bowl 47 Responsibly

Feb 01, 2013 -- 10:33am

Thousands of Delawareans will be hitting the roads to travel to friends’ houses or their favorite establishments to watch brothers Jim and John Harbaugh lead their teams in Super Bowl 47. The Delaware Office of Highway Safety wants to make sure everyone is responsible when traveling to and from their Super Bowl parties.

The Delaware State Police and 10 local police departments will be conducting DUI saturation patrols throughout the state Sunday night. The New Castle County DUI Task Force will be manning a DUI checkpoint in Newark. Football fans are being urged to use a sober designated driver, and not drive after drinking.

Last year, 36 people were arrested for DUI, and there were nine drunk-driving crashes on Super Bowl Sunday.
