Friday's Power Outage Explained

Feb 01, 2014 -- 11:45am

A power outage knocked out the electric to hundreds of people in Angola, Long Neck and the Oak Orchard area on Friday morning around 11.  Jeremy Tucker at the Delaware Electric Cooperative tells WGMD that transmission lines feeding the Long Neck substation were dropped by Delmarva Power.  That substation is the largest energy provider on Delmarva, and Delmarva Power owns most of the transmission lines serving Delaware – so when transmission lines go down – the Co-op has to wait for Delmarva to fix the problem before the substation and the Co-op’s lines are re-energized.
