Painting Donated to New Lewes Public Library

Oct 29, 2013 -- 7:47pm

Several members of the Greater Lewes Foundation spotted the “Salute to the USS Delaware” during a recent silent auction and decided that they had to have the winning bid.  The painting was donated by Lewes artist Victor Letonoff.   The Greater Lewes Foundation won the painting which commemorates the battleship USS Delaware.  The 45-pound punch bowl is the centerpiece of a 20-piece silver service given to the ship by the people of Delaware.  The bowl displays the Great Seal of Delaware and the Seal of the United States supported by the National Eagle.  The painting will be displayed in the Delaware Room at the new Lewes Public Library – the funds raised from the silent auction – benefit the Greater Lewes Foundation!
