Delaware Senator Chris Coons will be a part of the conference committee that’s been tasked with drafting a federal budget.
Senator Coons is a member of the Senate Budget Committee, and has been appointed to the conference committee that was created as part of the agreement that ended the partial government shutdown Thursday. The committee has been tasked with coming to an agreement on a budget for the rest of Fiscal Year 2014, as well as setting spending limits and getting Congress to move forward with either a dozen new individual spending bills or a single omnibus spending bill.
Senator Coons’ office says the conference committee to work out the differences between the Senate’s budget and the House’s budget was blocked by a handful of Senate Republicans 21 times since March.
