Property assessments in Rehoboth Beach will begin later this week.
Field inspectors from the city will be going out to examine buildings starting Friday. Rehoboth Beach Mayor Sam Cooper says the purpose of the assessments is to ensure a fair and equitable valuation of all properties, as well as equal treatment of all property owners. He explained that an assessment hasn’t been conducted in Rehoboth since 1968, and that’s resulted in unequal valuations of properties.
Property owners will find out what the new assessed value of their properties are after the inspections have been completed and local sales data has been analyzed.
