Salisbury is Working to Keep the Wicomico River Clean with Filters

Aug 31, 2013 -- 12:58am

The City of Salisbury is working to keep the Wicomico River healthy and clean.  14 more Flogard drain filter inserts have been installed in catch basins leading to the Wicomico River.  The filters help to catch rubbish and sediment that ruins the health of the river.  However citizens also have to do their part by being sure to properly dispose of trash.  The Flogard units have been placed in key areas – with over 100 installed – and the city’s been able to do more with less.  They were able to get a discount on the units and used the discount to order replacement filter media.  Funding for the filters is from Community Development Block Grants and the city plans to budget for additional inlet guards and replacement media as they go.
