17 schools have been recognized as Champions in Sportsmanship for this past school year by the Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association.
Among the schools that were honored were Seaford, Woodbridge, Sussex Tech and Lake Forest High Schools. Woodbridge and Seaford were both recognized for a third time. Wheatley Middle School was also honored.
A record 22 schools applied for the award this year. Schools submitted application books that were judged by a committee to evaluate if each school met the set of 10 standards the DIAA uses to determine sportsmanship.
