BREAKING & UPDATED: Power Restored to all DEC Customers in Lewes

UPDATED - 2pm - All of the over 500 Delaware Electric Cooperative members in the Lewes area who lost power around 10:30 this morning have had their power restored.  Delaware Electric Cooperative officials say a truck with its boom in the air took down wires.  Work on the power lines affected traffic on Route 1 just north of Red Mill Pond while crews replaced a broken utility pole.


A truck with it's boom in the air (not a DEC truck) ripped down Co-op power lines near Lewes around 10:30 this morning.

500+ members are without power as a result.

Crews are working to restore power, but it may be some time before the lines are repaired. The work on the power lines is affecting traffic on Route 1. DelDOT says the work being done in the area of Route 1 and Best Lane on the north side of Red Mill Pond, and will result in occasional lane closures through 1 p.m. Drivers in the area can expect delays.
