Delaware State Park officials are continuing to monitor the shoreline for a New York man who went swimming Saturday morning near the Indian River Inlet and never resurfaced.
34-year-old Jeff King of Jordanville, New York was swimming with a friend around 7:30 a.m. when he started to go under the surface of the water; King’s friend attempted to help him but he couldn’t hold on. The friend than swam to shore to call 9-1-1.
Moderate rip currents were reported in the area at the time; DNREC, Delaware State Police, the U.S. Coast Guard and rescuers from Lewes and Bethany searched for King for most of the day Saturday before calling off their search.
