The DMV is warning consumers about a series of calls residents have received from insurance companies.
The DMV has recently received reports from residents who have received automated calls from an insurance company claiming that it can save them money on their rates and that the DMV has allowed it to research their insurance history and call.
DMV Spokesman Mike Williams says the agency does NOT and will NOT share customers’ personal information with any outside agency; Williams says the claim that the company has been allowed to research residents’ insurance history is FALSE.
Residents who receive such calls should ignore the caller and hang up.
The Delaware Insurance Commissioner’s Office Fraud Unit is investigating.
