Newark Woman/Son Robbed at ATM

May 20, 2013 -- 3:41am

Delaware State Police are today investigating a robbery of a Newark woman and her son after they withdrew money from a bank ATM Saturday night.

Police say the 43-year-old woman and her 7-year-old son had just withdrawn money from the WSFS Bank Automated Teller Machine located on Fox Hunt Drive in Bear just before 6 p.m.  As they were walking back to their car, an African American man wearing a mask approached the two armed with a knife and demanded money. The suspect then grabbed an undisclosed amount of money out of the 7-year-olds hands and fled.

Police say the woman and her son were NOT hurt in the incident.
