8:50 A.M.: Charges are pending today against a 35-year-old Federalsburg, Maryland man who ran off Route 24 near Laurel this morning and took out two telephone poles.
Police say the crash occurred just before 6 a.m. as the driver of the tractor trailer was westbound on Route 24, ran off the road and struck the first pole. Both the truck and tanker overturned, causing a second pole to fall.
The driver was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
7:15 A.M.: 13 Delaware Electric Co-Op customers are in the dark this morning following an accident on Route 24, near Trap Pond Road.
Police say the crash occurred just before 6 a.m. when a tanker truck overturned and took down a DEC pole.
Co-Op crews are on the scene and are working to repair the pole as soon as possible.
6 A.M.: Route 24 is CLOSED near Trap Pond Road, east of Laurel due to an overturned tank truck.
Police and fire personnel are on the scene.
Reports of several telephone polls being knocked down in the accident are being investigated.
No word on injuries.
