The cool spring has giving the piping plover nesting season a good start. Three nests have been spotted on the Point at Cape Henlopen state Park. A pair of plovers has also been spotted at Gordon’s Pond, but no housekeeping has been set up yet. Plover watchers have seen as many as 9 plovers at one time on the tidal flats on the bay side of the Point, so it’s expected more pairs and nests will be found soon. So far there’s been no beach-nester bird activity at Delaware Seashore State Park.
