The Delaware Department of Corrections says a 48-year-old inmate at the James. T. Vaughn Correctional Center near Smyrna who was serving three life sentences for murder died Tuesday night following a long illness.
James Crowe of Fox Point was sentenced in 1995 to three life sentences for first-degree murder, robbery and burglary in the killing of John Kilbride in a home near New Castle. DOC Spokesman John Painter says Crowe died just before 10 p.m.; NO foul play is suspected.
As is standard procedure, his body was turned over to the state Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
