AAA: Gas Prices In April Cheapest In 3 Years

May 01, 2013 -- 12:07pm

Gas prices fell for most of April, and it was the cheapest average for the month in three years.

AAA says the national average for regular unleaded last month was $3.55 a gallon, and the price of gas fell by 13 cents during the month. That was the largest percentage drop for April in 10 years. The price of regular yesterday was $3.51, the fourth-highest price on the date.

AAA says gas prices have been falling because of ample refinery production, weak demand and lower oil costs, and gas prices have fallen faster and earlier than ever before for this time of year. Gas is expected to drop to between $3.20 and $3.40 a gallon during the summer driving season.
