Delaware State Police are continuing their search today for the driver of a car who hit a 17-year-old Laurel girl, then forced her into the vehicle and sexually assaulted her. Police say it happened between midnight and 2:30 a.m. Thursday on Route 9, east of Route 13.
Police say the teen was walking when she was hit by the car; police say the driver went back to the scene, forced her into the car and drove her somewhere in Laurel, where he sexually assaulted her. Authorities say the man then drove the girl to her neighborhood and let her go. The child was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say the suspect is an African American man with an average build, clean shaven and he was wearing sunglasses.
The suspect’s vehicle was described to be a silver four-door passenger car bearing a white license plate from an unknown state.
