UPDATE: Sen. Coons Speaks in Dover Today About Efforts to Save Children's Advocacy Ctrs

Apr 26, 2013 -- 4:31am

Delaware Senator Chris Coons will tour the Children’s Advocacy Center in Dover today and talk to reporters about efforts to save federal funding for Delaware’s Children’s Advocacy Centers, which protect child victims of physical and sexual abuse by providing a safe and effective place for trained professionals to conduct forensic interviews and connect child victims with physical and psychological health resources.

The Children's Advocacy Center conducted 250 interviews to aid the investigation of Dr. Earl Bradley; he was the Lewes pediatrician who was convicted of sexually abusing dozens of children and sentenced to 14 life sentences in prison.

The President’s proposed budgets for 2013 and 2014 both zeroed-out federal funding for the Children’s Advocacy Centers.
