The Delaware House on Thursday unanimously approved a bill restricting the possession or sale of shark fins in the First State.
The measure is now headed to the Senate and if it’s approved there and signed by Gov. Jack Markell, violators found guilty would be charged with an environmental misdemeanor.
The bill does allow the possession of shark fins for scientific purposes and it also permits a handful of commercial fishermen who hold shark fishing permits to possess or distribute, but not to sell shark fins.
