Domestic violence is not just a crime – it’s also a public health issue. A new initiative with state and local partners will be unveiled at 11 this morning in Wilmington. This morning the THRIVE Delaware Initiative will be unveiled by Public Health officials, Senator Tom Carper, State Senator Patricia Blevins and Carol Post, the Executive Director of the Delaware Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The initiative promotes healthy relationships, individuals and violence-free environments and is supported by over $2-million in federal funding. The federal funds come from the Project Connect and DELTA FOCUS programs which are targeted at addressing and preventing domestic violence as a public health issue.
