Wicomico County to Observe Maryland Arbor Day Wednesday

Apr 02, 2013 -- 9:37pm

Some seedlings will be planted Wednesday in Tyaskin in celebration of Maryland Arbor Day as part of the Backyard Buffers program.  Wicomico County Executive Rick Pollitt and Matthew Hurd from the Maryland Forest Service will plant the seedlings and shrubs to help stabilize a stream bank and protect land from further erosion – the property was damaged by both Hurricanes Irene and Sandy.  For county residents who have registered for the program – seedlings can be picked up in Wicomico County on Saturday from 10 to noon at the University of Maryland Extension Office.
