New Castle County Trout Season Opens April 6

Mar 27, 2013 -- 2:05pm

Six streams in New Castle County will be opened for trout fishing next weekend.

The spring upstate trout season will begin at 7:30 a.m. on April 6. DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife will stock While Clay, Christina, Miller and Pike Creeks, along with Beaver and Wilson Runs with rainbow and brown trout. Some of the fish will be trophy-sized.

All resident anglers between the ages of 16 and 64 need to buy a Delaware Fishing License and get a FIN number. Licenses cost $8.50 for Delaware residents and $20 for non-resident anglers age 16 and up. Trout stamps are also required. They’re $4.20 for adults, and $2.10 for youth ages 12 to 15. For non-resident anglers ages 12 and up, trout stamps costs $6.20 each.

Trout fishing will continue on a weekly basis through May 2.
