A new Maryland law on towing vehicles is having an impact in Ocean City.
Under the law that went into effect October 1, tow sign owners are required to return their old signs and buy a new tow sign and municipal tow sticker. That sticker has to be placed on the right corner of the sign. Owners have to select a company that they’ll call directly to tow vehicles out of their lots, and there has to be one towing sign with the name of the company displayed for every 7,500 square feet of space in a parking lot. Towing companies won’t be allowed to tow from properties that aren’t displaying their stickers.
New signs and stickers will be available during normal business hours at the Billing and Collections Department at Ocean City Hall.
