Duo Wanted for Stealing Cigarettes from Newark Wawa

Mar 25, 2013 -- 4:10am

Delaware State Police are asking for the public's help to identify two suspects who stole cigarettes from the Wawa on Ogletown Stanton Road in Newark Saturday morning and then threatened a customer who witnessed the crime.

Police say the suspects began loitering around the cash registers just after 9 a.m. and when no one was around them, one suspect reached over the sales counter and stole three packs of cigarettes.

Both suspects attempted to run out of the store but one of the suspects ran into a 57-year-old man who was entering the store; police say the customer followed the duo, but backed off after they used a baseball bat to smash the side view mirror on his truck and threatened him with the bat.
