A Hartly woman is being treated for her injuries and has been charged with DUI after crashing into a pole early this morning.
Delaware State Police say around 1:10 this morning, 32-year-old Monica Tegano was driving her Oldsmobile Intrigue east on Route 8 just past Brittney Lane in Hartly. She failed to negotiate a left turn in the road, went off the road, and crashed into a mailbox and an electrical pole. Her car rolled over several times before coming to a stop in a wooded area. Troopers say Tegano was wearing her seatbelt, but had to be extricated from the car. She was taken to Kent General Hospital, where she's being treated for her injuries. Her condition is not known at this time. The crash closed Route 8 for around 2 hours while the accident was cleared.
She's been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, inattentive driving, failure to maintain a single lane, and driving without proof of insurance.
