A historic landmark in Dover has reopened and now houses two new businesses after a renovation.
Governor Jack Markell, Lieutenant Governor Matt Denn and Economic Development Office Director Alan Levin all took part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday at Bayard Plaza, at the corner of West Loockerman Street and South Governors Avenue. The building used to be the site of the Bayard Hotel, and is now home to Bayard Pharmacy, an independent, family-owned pharmacy. The building also houses 48 apartments for moderate-income residents on the upper floor.
The project was funded through the Delaware State Housing Authority, and is part of the revitalization project in downtown Dover.
