St. Patrick’s Day weekend has become one of the busiest times of the year for police officers because of drunk drivers. That’s why the Delaware Office of Highway Safety is telling revelers that they shouldn’t depend on “the luck of the Irish” to try and get out of a DUI arrest this weekend.
Police departments will be conducting DUI saturation patrols throughout the state this weekend. The New Castle County Task Force will be running a DUI checkpoint tonight in Wilmington.
Last year, 59 out of the 116 vehicle deaths were alcohol-related. So far this year, four people have been killed in drunk-driving crashes.
